The main aim of businesses is to make profits. However during the recent decades, businesses have had to invest their funds to be ethical in their operations so as to avoid controversies due to law breaks (Shlomo 2011, 98). Stakeholders have to be taken into consideration so that they are not affected by the business’s functioning. However many businesses have to face ethical dilemmas which is an immoral doing (Noland and Phillips 2010, 39). Ethical perspectives have been ...view middle of the document...

A report done by a teenager has concluded that Narinex should hire a CSO. Narinex heads are stuck in a situation where it has to decide to employ a CSO or not to look after sustainability issues which the company is facing. In addition was the time taken in some countries for environmentally concerned changes to take place because of the country’s resources and regulations being much difficult thus difficult to implement. The company has also faced ethical issues concerning their Taiwanese branch in the past and although there was very few media coverage, there are still some videos available online. So Narinex has to decide whether employing a CSO like its competitor would be favourable for its continuation. This can be analysed through the utilitarianism perspective.

In their research,Kujala, Lamsa and Pettila stated that utilitarianism is doing the greatest good for the greatest number that is everyone’s advantage is considered while taking a decision (Kujala, Lamsa and Penttila 2011,193). This perspective takes into consideration both short term and long term costs and maximises gained benefits and minimises harm. Utilitarianism acts like a help for the company to decide to employ the CSO or not. By taking into consideration the largest good for the greatest number, Narinex shall take into account the image of the company and the sustainability issues it faced both in the past and presently. The main stakeholders who will benefit from this approach are the host countries’ people as well as the planet (Nijof and Jeurissen 2010, 618). Thus by employing a CSO, shall lead to a sustainable thought for the business for its image’s enhancement. The utilitarian theorists tend to be liable to provide significance to restricted, short term; evidence based technical involvement, conveyed according to specifications and contracts (Garbutt and Davies 2011, 267). Additionally the research report carried out by the seventeen year old student who is nonetheless than the granddaughter of Jennifer Brown concluded that Narinex should definitely hire a CSO has put her in an ethical dilemma. Brown stating From the mouth of babes shows that though at a small age, the conclusion of her granddaughter might be right. Nevertheless utilitarianism might not always be relied on. In Renouard’s study of utilitarianism and CSR, it was mentioned that this concept tends to put too much importance on material wealth and economic value creation, and thus ignoring other aspects of well-being and of social value construction (Renouard 2011, 86).
Virtue of ethics is the moral ability that puts one in a position to act morally after weighty deliberation or a quick reaction. However time is a difficulty to consider when applying this ethical perspective. It might not be applicable for Narinex as although it tries to attain a common good for both the organisation and stakeholders, there are still some who cannot be taken into consideration for example when investing more of...
