Ms Angie Taylor whose age is around 48years old had a car accident 15 years back. She is suffering from severe complications after an accident as she had never such a relevant past history. Her case study needs a thorough analysis which can be done through answering some important questions keeping in view the case study of Ms Angie Taylor. There are some important questions and queries in this case which needs to be resolve through proper analysis of the case study of Ms Taylor by looking at the literature. There are many complications ...view middle of the document...
Ms Angie Taylor who is suffering from severe chronic pain needs epidural infusion which can really give her enormous relief. With the infusion of epidural the drugs becomes more effective as it directly appears on the receptors of opioid in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord (Bourke DL, 1992). The epidural infusion impacts lower on GI tract which helps a lot in pain relieving. In the post operative care, the epidural infusion causes less chances of constipation which helps the patient to feel more and more relaxed. The epidural infusion also functions as the reducing agent to prevent nausea and vomiting. To apply the epidural infusion to Ms Angie Taylor will be very much effective for pain relief in the post operative care because it helps enormously in the prevention of pain to the patient (Brewington K. 1989).
Pathophysiology of pain
Pathophysiology of pain can be defined as an identification of the path of pain through which pain can be sustained or patient can get relief from pain (Cohen FL. 1980). In the case of Ms Angie Taylor the pathphysiology of her pain can be taken into account through epidural infusion, it is a technique which can be very helpful and supportive to reduce pain of the patient in post operative care (Cronin M, 1973). The pathophysiology of pain can be further explained in terms of reducing pain by using different techniques and medicines, the pain can be only reduced if the path of the pain is identified which is the main function of pathophysiology (Chen PP, 1996).
There are number of pain syndromes which are involved in this process of pathophysiology. It is a very effective decision making and can be considered as an effective therapy which can be useful enough to give a lot of relief in pain after surgery. Similarly, in the case of Ms Angie Taylor, there are number of implications of her post operative care which can cause her a lot of pain, therefore, use of pathophysiology with the epidural infusion can be very much effective (Dahl JB, 1987).
Complications manifested by pain in the post operative patient
Anxiety is the most highlighted complication caused by pain in the post operative patient. There are number of reasons to nominate anxiety as a major complication in the post operative care one of the main reasons can be the patient’s uncertainty about her life (Donovan BD. 1983). The feeling of anxiety in the post operative pain is very much obvious because due to many heavy doses the patient might feel less capability to resist against the fear of not recovering due to immense pain and therefore, it causes anxiety (Dewan DM. 1988).
Sleeplessness is another most important complication caused by pain in the post operative care of the patient. Sleeplessness causes further serious complications which disturbs the overall physiological system in the body (Gurel A, 1986). Due to severe pain after surgery the patient continuously suffers from the problem of sleeplessness, as...
