Macbeth is great play written by William Shakespeare, mostly known for its violence. The story starts with a hero of scotland, named Macbeth, whom changes gradually throughout the play. The thought of being able to have so much power caused him to make some menacing decisions that caused only chaos and regret. Towards the end his whole ambition for becoming king all fall short and instead he becomes an oppressor or tyrant. In William Shakespeare`s play, ambition has brought the death of many from Macbeth. “our ambition should be to rule ourselves, the true kingdom for each one of us; and true progress is to know more, be more, and do more”.In the play, Shakespeare uses the concept of ambition to show how it affects Macbeth and his wife who thrive to reach the throne and will go through any means necessary to achieve that goal.

The desire for power fogs macbeth's mind of humanity and mercy. For example Macbeth wants to kill Banquo and Flence for some apparent reason. He sar far in that he can't control himself any longer until he gets to what he has strived for. “I am in blood, in so far that should I wade no more returning were as go over.”(3.4.142-144) After killing King Duncan he is haunted by the blood of his sacrifice. Ex. A dagger with blood splotches on the handle. “I see thee still/ on thy blade and dudgeon gouts of blood which was not so before? Will all great Neptune's ocean wash this blood clean from my hand”. (7.1.45-47) The blood on the dagger remindes him of the crime he committed. In conclusion, Macbeth is one of Shakespeare's most famous pieces to date as it portrays a powerful story of a man who started his journey in a peaceful and ambition-free light, but meet his demised and fell into darkness because of ambition.
Macbeth become cocky when his ambition drives him to becoming a king, so much that both him and his wife had planned and killed King Duncan. Ambition today can be a good thing or a potentially dangerous thing. Everyone whether you want to believe it or not, does and eventually will have ambition towards something or a goal. If you want it to control then let it if not then let it go even a little bit of ambition good but, too much of a good thing can also become bad thing as well. Macbeth was a rightous man, corrupted by power and greed. His ambition led him to treason, murder and brutal killings by ordering the deaths of individuals, including his friends. The witches, to some extent are responsible for his motivation, as they had the power to provide temptation and to induce wrongful doings. Sadly his ambition destroyed him and his relationship between his wife, friends, and King Duncan. He was simply tempted by the witches to commit these acts with the only motivation being personal glory and achievements. Usually, when not being encouraged or manipulated, Macbeth would have been a good, loyal, and courageous person, who was known by others as a true courageous hero.
