Health promotion involves motivation and improvement

Nurses support health promotion through groups and
organizations and help communities to make healthy choices. This provides an
ability to the population to be their own free agents through education to make
personal healthy choices to improve health.
Nurses must have evidence based understanding of health promotion
Interventions to communicate this understanding to the public. Nurses also serve
as a critical link in the education programs for health promotion and provides as
many needs and services to help the individuals, families and communities and
population to identify their needs to improve their health.
Nurses in overall, in education, practice and research can
participate in the advancement of health promotion not only to the mainstream
but to the forefront of nursing practice. In history nurses teach the patients to
manage their illness, but now the focus is to teach people how to remain healthy.

Roles and responsibilities of nurses in health promotion
Nurses are involved in health promotion as they have more direct
contact with patients and communities. Nurses are able to put their awareness
earned in the class into practice that helps to improve their competency and
increase their involvement in promoting health for all.
The main responsibility of nurse is education of public about
different indicators of health, making them more responsible during health
promotion sessions and their specific roles in modifying their attitude.
Nurses are in the forefront of health awareness programs because,
-Nurses are able to provide essential input to interdisciplinary programs that
monitor, anticipate and respond to public health problems in population
groups, regardless of which disease or public health threats identified.
-Evaluate health trends and risk factors of population groups and help
determine priorities for targeted interventions.
-Work with communities or specific population groups within the community to
develop policy and targeted health promotion and disease prevention
-Participate in assessing and evaluating healthcare services to ensure that people

nursing practice should incorporate and instill broader societal, economic,
ecological and political dimensions of health promotion and equip nurse
practitioners with necessary needs assessment, determination of priorities,
