Islam is an Arabic term meaning submission. Followers of this faith are called Muslims, which means submitter in Arabic (Stark, 2007, p. 358). The basic spiritual practices of Muslims are based on the Five Pillars. A Muslim must do his or her best to fulfill the Five Pillars because they are considered God’s commandments (Fisher, 2011, p. 396).
