Should gay marriage me legalized? This has become a very trending topic in today’s society. I think the better question the people should ask is, why gay marriage shouldn’t be legalized? Homosexuals are human beings that deserve to get the same respect and have the same rights as others. There are some states that allow same sex marriages, but there are a lot of states that have placed a ban on same sex marriage. Why do same sex couples want to marry? “The Human Rights Campaign Foundation states that many same-sex couples "want the right to legally marry [and] honor their relationship in the greatest way our society has to offer... (HRC, 2009).” Homosexuals are human beings just like everyone else and should be given the same rights as others. There are some homosexual couples that are deeply in love, have been together for years and are not allowed to express their love for each other through marriage. It is unconstitutional to deny same sex couples the right to marriage. The constitution puts a limit on the power of government not the rights of the people. The constitution does not ban gay marriage, so the states should not be able to ban them.
The bibles states that marriage should be between a man and a women. The bible also states that man should be the provider and head of the household, but there are many single mothers in today’s society that are the provider and head of their household. Many states do not allow same sex marriages because it is a sin. It is true that homosexuality is a sin, but it is also true that no sin is greater than the next. The politicians, the judges, and preachers have to bow down before God and be judge for their own sins. The same goes for homosexuals. If they make the choice to love each other knowing that it is a sin, they have to go before God on judgment day and be judged for their own sins. If homosexuals are going to be banned from wedding, because homosexuality is a sin the same should go for a murderer or prostitute. Marriage is a civil union, therefore religion has nothing to do with it.
