Are Leaders Born or Made
It seems as though everyone has something to say about leadership - even if what they are saying is based on misunderstanding and misconception. Sometimes we accept ideas as facts and let them rule our behaviors without taking the time to really think about them. Therefore, when we hear people saying this or that about leadership, we may be tempted to just accept it as truth. This is unfortunate, as leadership is something everyone could use a little more in their lives, whether it is at work, with their families or in the sports community. Webster's defines a leader as simply being, a person or thing that leads. While leadership is defined as being the function or position of a leader, but it is more complex than that. Leadership is a behavior we exert when we take responsibility for our actions and their consequences. It is about being accountable when we assume responsibility for guiding others. In addition, leaders share a group of common characteristics that have everything to do with personality and nothing to do with position. Even so, an individual cannot anoint him/herself a leader. Leadership is an honorary degree, which can only be bestowed by those who are led....

Are Leaders Born or Made? We all knew someone that from the time they were born had a knack for that certain something; the little girl who grew up and wanted to be a teacher, or the Boy who knew he was going to be a police man. As far as leaders, yes I would like to believe that leaders are born, but they have to be given the opportunity to use their gift. In my opinion I think that everyone is born a leader. If they are given the opportunity to use their leadership skills then they will always retain them. For example molly is in preschool and is showing all the little kids how to mix colors. When one kid mixes the wrong color she shows them how to do it right. This point is critical if she is complemented on her behavior I think she will always want to lead. On the other hand if Molly was punished for being too bossy then later in life when she was put in the situation to lead people, she may think twice or decline the part all together because she feels the repressed feelings of her inner leader. To sum things Up Leadership is comparable to the nature versus nurture in Psychology. Every one has the gift whether it’s brought out by nature, or brought out nurturing that specific area.
