Sleepers is a movie about four juveniles growing up in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen in the 1960’s. Lorenzo Carcatarra claims it is a true story, but New York denies anything and everything. In 1981 two of the boys enter a bar and see Shawn eating at the table, and they kill him, and are on trial for murder. One of the boys, playd by Brad Pitt, is now a prosecutor, so the fourth boy named shakes who loves the Count of Monte Cristo book decides to get revenge sweetest revenge on all of the guards, and the person who killed Rizzo, a friend who helped win a football game against the guards and was beaten to death
for it, and also get a not guilty verdict for his two friends on trial. So the friend prosecutor takes his friends murder case to trial, and hire a lawyer who is instructed by the prosecutor on what to say and what questions to ask, but they need Father Bobby to lie under oath to give them an alibi. The Father decides to do it. The boys get revenge sweetest revenge on all the guards, and both John and Tommy get a not guilty verdict. Sleepers in Hell’s Kitchen means a juvenile that has been locked up.
I really liked and enjoyed the movie “Sleepers” it shows how a young kid/kids can easily get into trouble, and become a career criminal. Juveniles growing up in places like Hell’s Kitchen, or other poor neighborhoods don’t have much of a chance at a good life, specially when their parents fight, or are not supportive, and don’t have much money. A juvenile will try to hang out withn a group, or a gang, and they start to steal just to eat, just like in the movie, and they finally get caught. I think that a juveniles first offense should be looked at very carefully because sending a juvenile to a detention center can change their life forever, just like...
