It is said that human is the most important resource for any improvements. In the same way, employees have the most important influence on company’s success, and the key to make employees do their best to the company is when they feel satisfy with their job. It also “represents one of the most complex areas facing today’s managers when it comes to managing their employees” (Aziri 2011). That is because if the workers have a satisfaction with any works they are doing, they will do their work effectively and have an enthusiasm for their work. From all definitions mentioned above, it can conclude that job satisfaction is the positive feeling to any factors relating to the work which caused by fulfilling of individual in both physical and mental sides. This can reduce a stress in work, and the following result is that employees will be willing and concentrate to work to achieve the organization’s aim.
In the past, when talking about the main factor of job satisfaction, the first priority that will be mentioned is wage. Then there are more studies about other related factors such as advancement, acceptation, stability, work envelopment, relationship with co-worker and employer and type of work, etc. Therefore, some people demonstrate the different factors or elements that affect job satisfaction, but most of them are based on Maslow’s Hierarchical Theory of Motivation and this essay will refer to Herzberg’s Two-factor theory, and McGregor’s Theory X and Y.
Maslow’s Hierarchical Theory (Maslow 1970) believed that all humans have endlessly needs all the time. Although their needs are fulfilled, they still have others, and those needs can be classified into five levels in order of priority. (Figure 1)

The first step is physiological needs. They are the primary needs of human’s life which is the most powerful and easily observed needs such as needs for food, water, clothing, oxygen, warmth, relaxation, medicine and residents. When the physiological needs are completed, human will move on to the next step which is safety or security needs. These is the needs to be protected from anything that can happen to life, liberty, property, economic security, work stability and social status. The third step is social needs which mean humans do not want to live alone. They need friends or followers. They also would like to be a part of social together with to be accepted by others. The next step is esteem needs. They are about self-esteem and esteem from others. Humans believed in their abilities and want to be praised in what they do because it makes them feel worthy. The last one is self actualization needs which are the highest level needs Maslow's hierarchy of needs. They are the feeling that humans want to success in everything they do. This level will happen when all lower levels are fulfilled effectively, and there are a few people can reach this level.
There are a link between job satisfaction and Maslow’s Hierarchical Theory. That is employers can motivate employees by trying to fulfill the employees’ needs to make them feel satisfied with their job. For example, fulfilling the physiological needs by providing a break time for lunch or rest, or paying enough salary to purchase for important things of life.
