To this day, I continue to bring this approach to work on a daily basis as a former military serviceman transformed back into a civilian.Although I am no longer in a supervisory position, I still maintain the ability to influence coworkers. I work in an administrative position for a HVAC company that works on commercial air conditioners as well as soda fountains and deli coolers for multiple gas stations throughout western Texas and southern New Mexico. My daily role typically consists of ordering parts for jobs or tracking work orders to ensure the jobs have been properly completed. However, I try as much as possible to do more than office work. I often volunteer to go out with the technicians as a helper.Frequently, I am left in charge of routing the technicians to job sites where they must complete a task. My leadership style varies from my supervisor. He concerns himself with technicians showing up to the job sites so the customer sees that our company is making an attempt to fix their problem. The issue with that is more than half of the time the technicians end up going back to the site a few days later. The reason being is my supervisor wants them to go to multiple job sites one day, and spend the next couple of days fixing the issues at the site. This approach would not be deficient if the technicians would always fix the issue on their first attempt; this never happens. I believe that a significant amount of time is wasted and the jobs are not even being properly completed.How do I motivate others at work?
