Though this experiment, an additional function of clothing is discovered. Generally speaking, most people tend to focus on verbal expression as the most essential factor with the communicative process and function. Actually, clothing is also an important way of conveying knowledge and information of ourselves to others. For example, the material used would signify the owner’s social status.

I respectfully disagree with that idea. Just because I am dressing in a casual way does not mean I carelessly put together an outfit with mismatched fragments. However, beyond a doubt, my wardrobe is nonprofessional. Luckily, all the grumbles at my outfits give a clue to the totally opposite mode of style of my way and it is probably a business man within a classic attire that is clean and pressed. Plus, a tie and a long-sleeved shirts are indispensable.
As it is mentioned above, clothes are not only important in the process of conveying information about ourselves, but also in the process of establishing one’s identity. That means, clothing is believed to be imbued with special spiritual and protective powers. Especially, in this case, on the premise that a student in a casual outfit and a student in a formal suit will drastically classified in different social classes. So, the gap of power distance between an unidentifiable person in a loose fashion and an unidentifiable person within a rigid suit should be extreme. Additionally, the sense of spiritual elevation was perceivable right after wearing the suit.
Conversely, due to the big influence of clothing, it might be an issue around which groups identities would be forged and which groups would struggle. In short, our genuine identity are likely to be neglected because of our outlook.
Since, people tend to estimate our social class based on our appearances, clothing would be considered to be a tool we use to establish, express, and convey multiple aspects of our identity. And yet, according the overall analysis of this experiment, the side-effect of the social norm is fatal.
Clothing would be a harmless deception. But the stance of over-focusing one’s outlook would generate barrier to reveal each other’s identity. The shallow consideration and methodology would create a large obstacle for us to transmit ourselves.
