Professor Doyon Intermediate Accounting II Writing Assignment 2
Thus far, Intermediate Accounting has been very challenging. However, I do not think any of the topics discussed-to-date have been over my head, and at this point in the semester I am beginning to feel somewhat like an accountant, with a solid, basic know-how in my field of study. My brother recently asked me for my opinion on some loans for his new food business: I was almost giddy that I could easily work out some present values. Also, many of my courses this semester overlap frequently, providing me with useful cross-referencing (from accounting to management to finance, ...view middle of the document...
I tend to second guess myself frequently, and I feel putting more time into my homework would solve this. I have certainly put more time and effort into the homework thus far, but I have not handed much of it in because it is unfinished or untyped. I also do understand more time must be put in outside of class. My plan is to at least go through and try all the homework problems shortly after class, while the information is still fresh in my head and I am in “accounting mode”. Besides my homework, another problem for me is my organization. I have many loose pages of notes, as well as a few different notebooks, making looking up past information, whether for homework or exams, much more time consuming. I plan to go back and collect all of my accounting work from the past 2-3 years and get a binder/file cabinet. I imagine this will be invaluable to me in every year to come.
There are a few specific topics I would like to review: I feel like I might struggle to put together a formal income statement or balance sheet properly;...
