Part I. Assume you have taken over responsibility to play the lead Information Technology (IT) management role in Magnum Enterprises. Your boss, Rachel Heigl, is Magnum’s CIO. The IT management group is comprised of six people who you will be supervising. Ms. Heigl is an enlightened manager, and she believes that if you are to carry out your responsibilities effectively, you need to work with her in defining your IT management role. Control computer systems budgets and expenditures.
I will assured technology is accessible and equipped with current hardware and software. Troubleshoot hardware, software and network operating system. Be familiar with all hardware and software and network operating system. Arrange for orientations to new users of existing technology. Train staff about potential uses of existing technology. Make available individual training and support at all times. Provide recommendations about accessing information and support. Keep up current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources.
I will monitor and maintain technology to ensure maximum access. Troubleshoot all technology issues, maintain a log of required repairs and maintenance, and make recommendations about purchase of technology resources. Research current and potential resources and services. Install work stations and provide network accounts and passwords as required. Monitor security of all technology. Install and maintain
I personally will read and understand any standard operations procedure the company has that will bring me up to speed as how the company do business, establish their goals, and give us an idea how to reach those goals. That way I will have all necessary tools when is time to make decisions. I will research and create a system where we can make profits and keep the customers welfare in mind. Having a clear picture of the company’s business plan, its vision and more importantly its mission will enable myself to create and improve a plan that will be used by every single worker on my team.
Educating my team will be my first priority. That will allow them to effectively understand the importance and significance of IT. By doing that, it will allow me to effectively integrate the company’s capabilities, hardware and software. At the same time the will learn and understand how IT supports the five different areas that I consider the most important ones that support our business. Information Technology, Business and Commerce Applications, Business Operations, Management Challenges, and Processing Development.
The most important thing is for my team to be proficient in every aspect within that IT section. Everything that our company has to include; telecommunication and network equipment, data source capabilities, software, and hardware. The advancement in technology has made network serves, PDAs, and personal computers a very important factor within our business these days. With that in mind, we need to be extremely proficient and subject matter experts when it comes to solving and troubleshooting hardware issues oppose to call a maintenance tech.
