This report provides an analysis and evaluation of information technology tools available to help support our business. The purpose of this plan is to set the foundation for our information technology department regrading marketing, accounting, sales, and quality assurance. An example of this will be adding a new phone system, this will no longer require the need to buy additional and costly hardware like we would need with a standard PBX phone system. An extra added benefit with VoIP phones is the amount of features that come with it. Features such as auto attendant, queuing, voice mail and call forwarding all require no extra hardware or cost.
The second point that I would like to discuss is the accounting aspect of information technology or a accounting information system (AIS). This is a system where data is streamlined through and inputted for the basis of organization and decision making. The use of a AIS will allow different departments within the company to work together and help streamline all the information that is needed there by expediting the time required to complete tasks and in turn saving the business money.
The AIS works as a central computer system storing and assessing information as needed. The data contained the AIS is all finical information that is valuable or has to do with the business. Anything that effects the business from a finical stand point should be entered in this system. Examples of the data that would be included is sales orders, customer billing statements, sales analysis reports, purchases, vendor invoices, checks, inventory information, payroll information, time keeping, and tax information. This data can then be used to prepare accounting statements and reports.
