Riordan Manufacturing
Riordan has sent a request for service with to the IT department hoping to benefit their company. The request for service involves changing the HR department for the better. Riordan wants to integrate and change the HR applications with a new state-of-the-art information system. The company wants to have the HR department to have the ability to assesses resources and tools all in one application.

Feasibility Study VS Business Plan
A common misunderstanding is not knowing the differences between the Business Plan and the Feasibility study. The feasibility study provides an investigating function while a business plan outlines the actions needed to take the proposal from "idea". The feasibility study outlines and analyzes several alternatives or methods of achieving business success, or in the case of Riordan this would be the success of the new information system. The feasibility study helps to narrow the scope of the project to identify, study the research part of the scope of the project. Feasibility study consists of these types of learning methods: questionnaires, interviews, observations and learning practices. (Don Hofstrand, 2009)
It is highly recommended to analyze the current state of the HR department to understand the need for the system. To further understand the current challenges with the information system, an interview with to right person in the company is required.
Human Resources Department Interviews
The first person that would be interview is the senior manager of the HR Department. HR manager has a wide scope of the project and the current state of the system. The beginning of the interview will be warm and welcoming, A few minutes of the pleasant general talk will set a positive tone for the interview. Arrange a private place for the interview, my office or their private office are great choices. Even a conference room will work well (HR- Guide, 2015).
The Starting question can be simple at first, questions like What do you like least about this system?(Valacich, J., & George, J., 2012 ) The interview with this manager would be structured, concise and straight to the point. All question should be an open-ended question, avoid asking questions that can result in a "yes or no" answer. HR Guide has some basic tips and tricks to conduct basic and profession interviews by saying:
“In developing interview questions, it is important to ensure that questions are:
• Realistic given the requirements of the job
• Complex enough to allow adequate demonstration of the KSAs being assessed
• Stated in a straightforward unambiguous manner
• Formulated at the language level appropriate for the employee being interviewed” (HR- Guide, 2015)

System Observation and questionnaires
Another strategy for maximizing the amount of information and system requirements that are needed to redesign the HR software is to perform observations of the current system.
