Regardless of what the world think I believe that mankind was created in the image of God. Being created in His image definitely has an effect on my vocation. A vocation can be define as a particular occupation, business, or profession, or your divine call to God’s service or to the Christian life. I’m actually walking in my vocation right now. I was ordained a Minister in December of 2012. I have learned since then that I must be true, live holy, and have faith.
Example 1 - I Must Be True
Being true in my vocation is the key to helping people know that you are authentic. To walk in trueness one must be real, genuine, sincere, not deceitful, loyal and faithful. I remember ...view middle of the document...
He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. This clearly defines that if you are of the devil you will speak like he speaks but if you made in the image of God you will speak how God does. For example someone may ask a question that I may not want to answer that may involve some ugly trues. I should answer that question with the truth. In John 8:32 says: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. It’s impossible to be made in the image of God and not have His attributes. Likewise it’s impossible to live for the devil and not have his attributes. In my vocation as a Minister you must be an example to the people not only in your local church but when you are on your secular job, when you are in school and when you are at home. Most of all how you live out being true when you are all alone is a great way to see if you are really walking in the trueness.
Example 2 – I Must Be Holy
Holiness is defined as being dedicated and consecrated while devoted to the service of God. It is also having a spiritually pure quality. In Exodus 15:11 it illustrates how God is holiness. In my vocation as a Minister I have be as God is because He is what I should portray. In Exodus it reads: Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? It ask a question, “who is like God.” Being made in His image illustrates that we are like Him. We are not Him but we have His symptoms. As a Minister I must live a holy lifestyle so that the people that are following me as I follow Christ will not be confused to how they should live. I can’t be in church on Sunday lifting my hands and worshiping God then Monday thru Saturday, going to the clubs and living foolishly. This is so important because so many people in the society we are living in have been hurt in the church as well as in their Christian walk. As we grow in Christ and in the image of God we must change the way we used to be and put on a new image. In Ephesians 4:22-24 it reads: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Holiness is key to this vocation because God is holiness and we should conduct our lives this way as well.
