Recommend the redesign of Hershey’s performance management system to appeal to the diverse groups that it employs.

Finally, when it comes to addressing the younger generation’s eagerness for challenges, employee empowerment is also recommended as part of the redesign process. emphasizes that the ability for an employee to take part in the decision making process is considered to be one of the important essentials of the program because  it permits the employee to make decisions that have an impact on their immediate environment, which in turn impacts the whole organization. This involvement offers leads to employees feeling more empowered, which leads to a more dedicated workforce.
If you were a Hershey’s employee, analyze how you would interpret the values that Hershey embraces in relation to your role.
Hershey strives to provide a dynamic and challenging workplace that lends opportunity to its employees fully developing their skills and talents. Their employee value proposition has launched two successful programs aimed at getting employees involved in their own communities, one of these is called; The Corporate Social Responsibility Network (CSR).
CSR is a group of cross-functional, global employees who are interested in or passionate about CSR. Members plan, organize and participate in CSR activities and events of interest that drive positive change within the organization and support our values. Any employee across the company is welcome and encouraged to join the group. (Hershey Company 2012). Their passion for CSR has shown through in their creative programming and quick mobilization in supporting local causes. To date the CSR has accomplished many activities such as, initiating a program on commuter services, established the company’s page on recycle @ Work, Organized a recycle event and analysis employee participation in the event, and mobilized donations to a food bank. Another demonstration of Hershey’s devotion to employees is its safety and wellness program, stating that “a safety-minded, healthy employee base is an efficient, productive and satisfied workforce”. Just as we invest to provide a safe work environment for our employees, we also invest in programs and education that enable our employees to achieve and maintain healthy lifestyles. Being an employee of a company this you would get a strong sense of value, to yourself, your community and your workplace. (Hershey Company 2012).
In terms of the trends identified in this chapter, describe which one may impact Hershey the most.
The market trend that will impact Hershey the most will come from the chocolate market raising the cost of its commodities, which will eliminate the profit margin. The market structure has the oligopoly structure. In this structure, the leading companies such as Mars, Nestle, and Milky Way will only rule the confectionary market. The market structure involves the number of leading companies in the chocolate market, which supplies high quality products to fulfill the future market trends. (Hershey Company 2012).
