At the beginning of the Company's history, it must be mentioned the 28 year-old merchant who was interested in science - Fritz Henkel. On September 26, 1876 he and two partners founded the company Henkel & Cie in Aachen and marketed his first product, a universal detergent based on silicate. It exists and works very successfully since than. People around the world trust in Henkel’s brands and technologies. Henkel operates worldwide with leading brands and technologies in three business areas: Laundry & Home Care, Beauty Care and Adhesive Technologies.It holds globally leading market positions both in the consumer and industrial businesses with well-known brands such as Persil, Schwarzkopf and Loctite. Henkel is, headquartered in Düsseldorf / Germany, and has some 47,000 employees worldwide and counts among the most internationally aligned German-based companies in the global marketplace.Henkel has three globally operating business sectors:
* Laundry & Home Care- has always played an important role for Henkel because the company’s success story started with a product from this business sector. The Laundry business includes not only heavy-duty and specialty detergents but also fabric softeners, laundry performance enhancers and laundry care products. The portfolio of their Home Care business encompasses hand-dishwashing and machine-dishwashing products, cleaners for bath and WC applications, and household, glass and specialty cleaners. They also have a market presence in selected regions with air fresheners and insecticides for household applications.
* Beauty care- Henkel's Beauty Care division holds leading market positions worldwide and its brand-name products business is continuously expanding. Their top brand names from this section are: Schwarzkopf, Syoss and Dial. Schwarzkopf & Henkel stands for brand name products in the fields of hair colorants ,hair styling care and form, toiletries, skin care and oral hygiene.
* Adhesive Technologies business sector is the world market leader in adhesives, sealants and surface treatments for consumers, craftsmen and industrial applications. Their top brands from this section are: Loctite, Teroson and Technomelt. Henkel offers a multitude of applications to satisfy the needs of different target groups – consumers as well as craftsmen and industrial businesses.
