Healthful eating is something we should all be aware of. With all of the different types of foods that are available to us, many of us are not aware of the affects that they have on our bodies. All we know is that they taste good and we will always eat what tastes good. Along with eating healthier, exercise plays an important part in living a healthy life.
There are many good foods that are healthy for you and help you lead a healthier life. Fruits, vegetables and whole grains are good carbohydrates necessary for energy without dangerously raising blood sugar (5). There are also foods that help with specific health ...view middle of the document...

chronic diseases. Regular exercise can help you prevent - or manage - high blood pressure. Your cholesterol will benefit, too (4). Regular exercise boosts high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or "good," cholesterol while decreasing low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or "bad," cholesterol (4). Exercise helps you manage your weight. When you exercise, you burn calories. The more intensely you exercise, the more calories you burn - and the easier it is to keep your weight under control (4). Exercise strengthens your heart and lungs. Exercise delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues. In fact, regular exercise helps your entire cardiovascular system - the circulation of blood through your heart and blood vessels - work more efficiently (4). Frequent and regular physical exercise boosts the immune system, and helps prevent diseases of affluence such as heart disease, cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes and obesity. It also improves mental health and helps prevent depression (8). Exercise does not have to be a total drag for everyone. There are so many different kinds of exercises, that there is an exercise for everyone. If you do not like to run, try walking to start. Riding your bicycle is a great way to get some cardio in as well as shed some calories.
“Exercising is not for everyoneâ€, so says the ones who do not exercise. But not being active and exercising on a regular basis can be detrimental to one’s health. No one is saying that you have to go out and run a marathon, but it would not hurt to take a walk or ride a bicycle once in a while. The combination of not eating healthy and not exercising can increase the health risks in one’s life. Take for example; “If you are significantly overweight, you have a greater risk of developing many diseases including high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, stroke, and some

forms of cancer. For obese adults, even losing a few pounds or preventing further weight gain has health benefitsâ€(2). We also need to make sure our children are eating healthy and getting the proper amount of exercise. The Bogalusa study (the pediatric version of the Framingham study) showed that overweight children are likely to become obese adults. Approximately 70 percent of children with BMI above 95th percentile had adult obesity. In contrast, only seven percent of children less than the 50th percentile for weight became obese adults. Adults who were overweight in childhood have higher levels of triglycerides, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and insulin, with low HDL cholesterol levels and increased prevalence of diabetes mellitus(5).
What would be healthy eating be if you did not have the proper foods and diet? There are so many diets out there that there seems to be one for every person in the world. The key to a healthy diet is to have the right foods. Even some of the bad foods...
