In the seventies, growing up in the inner-city ghetto of Baltimore, Maryland lived in a dilapidated, rat, and roach infested home. In addition, attended public schools, monopoly of corner store that sold unhealthy foods and observing on the streets men shooting dice for money. As nurses, we should be culturally sensitive to our patient’s needs and build a trusting patient-nurse relationship. ("Penhall," 2014) Cultural Care modifies the expected health care delivery as it permits the provider to recognize a nurturing viewpoint, the explanation, and the meaning of the patient’s culture and life course. “The provider must serve as a bridge in the health care settings between the patient and the people who are from different cultural backgrounds.” (“Grand Canyon University”, 2015)
Family Interviews

Dr. H.B. was the first family interviewed was born in India. H.B lived with the family (mother and father and two brothers) in India. H.B.’s parents were born in India. Paternal and maternal grandparents were born in India. H.B. grew up in the urban area of India. Native language is Kannada/Hindi. After leaving India at the age of 23, H.B. moved to the United States. H.B. ‘s mother came to the United States at 45 years of age. H.B.’s father came to the United States at 70 years of age who is currently decreased. H.B maintained contact with her aunt, uncle, cousins, brothers, and children. She visits once a month that currently lives in Virginia. H.B. original name was changed after marriage. H.B. and husband have the same ethnic background and religious preference. H.B. religious preference is Hindu. H.B attended a private and public schools. H.B. as an adult, live in a neighborhood where the neighbors have the same religious preference and ethnic background. H.B. does not belong to a religious institution. H.B. does practice religion at home. As a family, they pray, celebrate religious holidays and eat food from their ethnic diet. The food prepared is from Indian cuisine, which is vegetarian. H.B. does not participate in ethnic activities. H. B. friends have the same religious preference and ethnic background. H.B. prefer to read and speak in native language. H.B is from Northern India (Delhi) health is maintained via a “whole ecosystem of health and medical technology innovators and entrepreneurs specializing in affordable healthcare has sprung up”. These foreigners are progressing to expand technology to innovate the best health maintenance to the underprivileged and those with restriction to medical benefits. A new program in Delhi was developed CAMTech or Consortium for Affordable Medical Technologies. “The Consortium is outlining an innovation laboratory to test low-cost medical technology on MedTech Row”.
