Communication methods for the health care organization have continued to grow along with technology. With this in mind there are pros and cons to some of the new age technology communication. Security, laws, policies, and regulations must be met with all types of medical communication. When addressing the general public regarding the situation these pros and cons will need to be considered.

The advantages of using traditional communication is the fact that a large amount of the public will be notified of the answers to the news report of the alleged negative effects of a medication. Traditional communication can recognized the issue of the conflict then identify the needs of the issue, and then establish an answer for the situation that is occurring. This type of communication can be recorded when written as well. A disadvantage to reading the communication would be the fact that it is just words that one is reading and misinterpretation can occur.
There are several advantages to electronic communications in healthcare as well as for the situation that is occurring with the medication. Electronic communication reaches a large portion of the population. With the use of computers, laptops, cell phones, notebooks, and videos there is almost no other type of communication that can be visual, verbal and written all within a communication. The communication is very fast allowing a short wait period for responses. Disadvantages of electronic communications is the fact that again the communication can become unhuman therefore also can become confusing. Electronic communication can also be recorded as a document. Recorded documents can be used again for further review or communication.
The last is social media that can be almost as fast as the electronic communication. The media is almost everywhere which includes, newspaper, new reports, internet, and TV. This type of communication allows readers or others within the communication to ask questions or elaborate on the issue. This is known as to be more of a human communication verse the other types of communication. Disadvantages to this type of communication is the fact that not all media is good and useful. There are many different types of social media that can be found and yet the information provided is little or non-credible. It is important to understand what the media is stating and what is being said.
When managing the situation of a news report alleged that there are significant side effects caused by a medication that is used by a significant population it is important to look at all the pros and cons of the different types of communication. Researching the issue first will allow an individual to decide the best way to present the information. There will be some cases that certain types of communication can impair the issue. According to Lawton & Parker (2002), “Moreover, the organisational culture of the NHS, with its emphasis on blame,' and an increasingly litigious public may only serve to exacerbate the problem” (Conclusion).
