Their use does not require advanced knowledge and experience of the internet and are made up of wide varieties of formats and topics, which means that just about anyone can connect Social Networking Sites, they are a popular trend today, specially to teenagers who are also students. These Social Networking Sites have been attracting more and more people everyday because of its features which can lead to the addiction of using it. Social Networking sites have been a part of many teenagers' and students' lives where it comes to the point that they became too much in contact with these Social Networking Sites. They spend too much time on it. Therefore, it even affects their performance at school.

Background of the Study

The purpose of this research study is to explore the impact of social networking sites to students.This study focuses on the effects of social networking sites on the academic performance of the students in STI College Muñoz-EDSA. This study focuses on how frequent do the students of STI College Muñoz-EDSA use social networking sites on a daily basis. It also focuses on why the students of STI College Muñoz-EDSA use social networking sites when it comes to their academics.
The study is based on the answers of the respondents to the questionnaires issued to them regarding the effect of social media sites to the academic performance of the students of STI College Muñoz-EDSA. This study used the obtained answers as the primary data for this study.

Significance of the Study

This study aims to provide useful information that will benefit the following people:
* Students of STI College Muñoz-EDSA – Who want to know the majority of answers that their co-students gave and learn from it.
* The School Administration – Who, after reading this study, can use the results to clearly identify what are the effects of social networking sites to the students of STI College Muñoz-EDSA
* As reference for future researchers – this study will serve as a helpful reference as they want to know more information about this certain study.
