Abstract

What is human resource management? Human resource management is the process of acquiring, training, appraising, and compensating, employees, and attending to their labor relations, health and safety, and fairness concerns. A manager is the person responsible for the accomplishing of the organization’s goals. The management process consists of various functions which are: planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling. Therefore, they could use a better system. Jim Bandag took over the company but I’m not sure if he’s the CEO. Since Jim’s father founded the company, his father should act as a consultant at Bandag Automotive Company. Bandag has major issues. They don’t treat their employees with the respect they deserve. Jim should be full-time until he can delegate authority to a competent person to fill-in in his absence. The company has a executive assistant that should have more responsibilities. This company does not provide accurate up to date training for the good of the organization. In earlier mention, it was spoken about Jim’s dad acting as his personal business consultant. Bandag Automotive needs a great deal of work overall, especially in human resource management.

Recommend what Bandag should change and/ or improve upon regarding the current HR systems, forms, and practices the company now uses.
Bandag Automotive Company is large enough to have there own human resource management team. If Jim is the CEO of the company, then he should have a better management team. He also needs more training on how to run a company. An executive assistant should not handle human resources duties. An executive assistant assist the management team. If Bandag Automotive Company had a human resource department and training for there employees, the company would be better off. When you run a large company and you have employees that are having personal problems or need assistance in filling out proper documents for illness, FMLA, etc, then there is a person that is usually trained in that area to assist them. For example, when Gavin whom is an employee with Bandag went out on FMLA for his hip surgery, there is normally someone in human resource that handles FMLA paperwork. But we don’t know if any of that has been taken care of. As far as the law, Gavin is entitled to FMLA because of how many hours he has put in and the length of time he has been employed with the company. This company can greatly improve its internal circle of employees by coming with a human engineering training program which deals with multiple people skills and human behavior.

Explain whether or not the employee has a legitimate claim against the company and the actions the company should take.
Any individual of employment opportunities should not be judge due to race, color, religion, sex or national origin. Large companies have FMLA (Family Medical Leave of Act). All companies should obey the Equal Employment Opportunity Act. At Bandag, some of there employees have some personal issues of which are good reasons to be on FMLA or maternity leave.
