In today's rapidly changing competitive world, the human element of management is becoming more significant. Management is a function, a discipline, and constant action to be completed. Managers are the professionals who practice this discipline, carry out the functions, and provide these tasks. There are four foundations to the long road of management success; planning, organization, leading, and controlling. The unwillingness for managers to continue proven plans has been a problem in my organization. By involving this process with the technicians, it has encouraged productive ideas, thoughts, and rewards. When the technicians assist with this part of the process, they are included in the company's plans for their future.Organizing is identifying objectives to be accomplished. The purpose of this function is to organize plans accordingly, as objectives relate to an organization's interest, to achieve goals (Allen, 1998). How the business is organized is linked to communication within the business, the delegation of authority, the management plan of the overall business, and the process of supporting good decisions. The primary purpose of the organizing function in my department is to ensure that technical operations run smoothly and efficiently. In this process, management ensures that the right people are in place, with the right materials to accomplish the mission of the company. Establishing monthly maintenance plans for outages and coordinating daily work for technicians are some parts of the planning process for my management. Furthermore, this function also involves management specifically defining the roles and responsibilities of each team member."A leader can be a manager, but a manager is no necessarily a leader," says Gemmy Allen (1998). Leading is a significant step of the management process. However, a successful manager must also have the knowledge and expertise of effective concepts as it relates to leading. Influencing other people to get the job done, maintaining morale, molding company culture, setting an example, and managing conflict are important parts to this function. "When you get both employees and managers to open a dialogue, each side learns about how the other feels. Employees are eager to learn, but they are resistant unless they feel managers are also committed to making changes," says Bartusch (Radice, 2002).
