However, Rule 7.2: Advertising – Comment [2] states that it permits public dissemination of information such as names of references and, with their consent, names of clients regularly represented; and other information that might invite the attention of those seeking legal assistance. If you can get the consent from former clients to list them on your webpage I am sure that it would be fine, but without the consent you will probably end up facing disbarment.

I understand that you want to pay a former client, Mrs. Susan Turner for a quote about how well she was represented in her personal injury lawsuit. However, I do not believe that you will be able to do this. Under the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct Rule 7.1: states that a lawyer shall not make a false or misleading communication about the lawyer or the lawyer’s services. A communication is false and misleading if it contains a material misrepresentation of fact or law, or omits a fact necessary to make the statement considered as a whole not materially misleading. Also, it is unethical for a lawyer to pay a client for a quote on how well they were represented in a personal injury lawsuit. When a personal injury lawsuit is brought about the lawyer will get a percentage of the money obtained after the case is filed. Therefore, in my opinion, a lawyer will not pay a client for how well s/he represented the client on the case. Rule 1.8: Conflict of Interest: Current Clients: Specific Rules (b) states that a lawyer shall not use information relating to representation of a client to the disadvantage of the client unless the client gives informed consent, except as permitted or required by these rules. (d) prior to the conclusion of representation of a client, a lawyer shall not make or negotiate an agreement giving the lawyer literary or media rights to a portrayal or account based in substantial part on information relating to the representation.
