Ethical Issues in Management: Work Assignments
In all aspects of business most managers have to constantly deal with an array of moral and ethical issues such as: racism, prejudice, work ethic, personal connection, work hours, work environment, punishment methods, etc. Issues in management aren’t always ethical some issues also deal with a manager’s moral overview of an issue. Being prejudice does not always mean somebody is being a racist. Distinguishing between the two being a racist and being prejudice can be hard if people go about finding the difference from one direction. The reason the two are so similar is because of how the word has been used over time and the level of hate the two words represents. If a manager decides to punish one member of the team by giving that particular person a task that may not seem important, but is hard to do some team members may become skeptical of the leadership. Ultimately ending with the project either completed with poor quality or not completed at all.
Being sociable and ethically responsible can sometimes cause confusion when it comes to work assignments. Some employees may view appointing work assignments unethical if the manager has a more sociable understand with other employees. This is because the manager could possibly assign the more labor intensive jobs to the employees that don’t fraternize as much as others. It seems that being sociable in the work place for managers is unethical when...
