“Ethics and social responsibility often discussed in the same breath are closely related but they are definitely not the same. Ethics refers to sets of beliefs about right and wrong, good and bad; business ethics involve the application of these issues in the workplace. Social responsibility is the obligation of a business to contribute to society. The most socially responsible firms feature proactive policies that focus on meeting the needs of all their stakeholders not just investors but also employees, customers, the broader community, and the environment” (Kelly, 6th edition 2014). “The ...view middle of the document...

This is another key area of the code of conduct which ensures the company is not losing any money and that personal information is not being shared with other businesses in competition. This saves the probability of the company and increases the company’s assets. When it comes to breach it violation Chipotle will do its best to protect the anonymity of any reporting employee, as well as confidentiality of matters associated with the investigation. Chipotle take the necessary steps to stop unethical behaviour and take appropriate disciplinary action. This last key to the code of conduct ensures that there will be no in appropriate behaviour in the company and that if an investigation takes place from something being reported all witnesses will be protected from the report and the necessary punishments will take place. This sets for a peaceful work environment and ensures the safety and loyalty of all employees in the company (Grill, 2010).
In my findings studies say that training employees, reward for ethical conduct, leading by example and work life balance are ways to ensure employees follow the code of conduct. You can’t expect an employee to act ethically in accordance to the code of conduct if they don’t know what it is or why it is important so you must have training sessions and meetings. To promote ethical behaviour among staff you must show and prove, give rewards for following the conduct and other employees will follow suit. Hold your managers to lead by example to a higher ethical standard so that they are credible when they communicate expectations to their staffers to do the same. If everyone is on the same page the team as a whole will adopt the same ethical behaviours. Employees are most likely to make good ethical decisions at work when they have a better since of work life balance (Communication, 2013). My employer takes great responsibility of ensuring that we as employees follow the code of conduct. There are monthly staff meeting and handouts that go out to the company to explain the code of conduct and there are question and answers minutes set aside for feedback.
