This paper contains a summary of an emotional intelligence test this author took. The result from that test, as well as a reflection on the experience is described within. An explanation of emotional intelligence and some of the ideas surrounding the study, including examples are described by the author. This author also describes why emotional intelligence is important in a number of areas of a person's life. In conclusion, this author gives information on a number of different ways a person could enhance their emotional intelligence.

Anger, love, anxiety and shame, for example, are observed, understood and effectively managed (Mayer, J.D., 2012). Personality traits have a lot to do with an individual's decision making and affects a person's behavior greatly; people with higher emotional intelligence tend to have better personal relationships and fewer difficult exchanges with people. Once a mood is understood, a person can adapt and change his or her mood to fit the situation in order to accomplish a goal. As Garrigan and Plucker stated, "Emotional intelligence, the skills that help people harmonize, should become increasingly valued as a workplace asset in the years to come" (2001).
Importance of Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence has importance in a number of different areas of our life. In the business world, being able to recognize and direct emotions can aid in knowing what another person needs, thus is beneficial. Teachers are also learning that EI can help with a childs development (Theory of Emotional Intelligence, 2012). High emotional intelligence scores are an important thing to have because it means people are less aggressive and have better success in resolving personal differences. Overall, Emotional intelligence is significant to a person reaching his or her full potential and finding greater effectiveness, happiness, and fulfillment in their lives.
