The best way to describe what has happened in our society over the past one hundred years would be to call it an explosion. Modern technology has not only made an over night entrance into our personal lives but has also changed the way we go about our daily tasks. Technological advancements have greatly convenienced our life but at the same time can shorten it. Many conveniences such as television which provides hours of baby sitting for a fee as small as $24.99 a month for basic cable and cellular phones which keep you in touch with anyone at whatever time you please, have taken over our society to an extent where most people can not function without these technologies. Shockingly one quarter of the Norwegian users feel warmth behind their ear during cell phone usage and about 20 percent believe their cell phone use is the cause of their frequent headaches. Many cellular phone critics also believe that frequent cell phone usage can cause cancer; at this point this information is not certain due to the low amount of long term cellular users. However still the damage inflicted by cell phones greatly exceeds that which the common user expects.No one expected cellular phones to have negative effects on our health, just as no one expected something as positive and revolutionary as television to have a negative effect on our children. It seems like such a great idea doesn't it? Just pay a small monthly fee for basic cable and purchase hours of entertainment and baby sitting for your kids. The only problem with this unsupervised leisure activity and after school companion is that children don't always watch what is expected of them. Most parents don't put child locks on certain adult programs such as pornography, action movies or violent rap channels. All these adult programs are targeted for more developed viewers then 7 year olds and thus can have negative effects on them. The American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry has been monitoring and doing research on the effects adult programs can have on children and they found that children may become immune to violence and seek it as a solution for every day problems. Children also imitate what they see on TV. If a child acts out something that he has seen a famous rapper or action movie star do on TV, the child can be criminally persecuted for his actions and thus develop a criminal record....
