THE PROBLEM AND REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Introduction
In these prevalent times, technology has been an indispensable component in the lives of the people. Part of the human interaction is engaged with the information society particularly the use of the Internet, computers and gadgets. The creation of the technologies facilitates the everyday undertakings of most of the people worldwide.
The impact of technology in our modern lives has amassed to both advantages and disadvantages. While there may be a handful of negative effects but the positive influences are a great deal to ...view middle of the document...

Some examples are Multiply, Friendster, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Live Journal and Blogs. (Cadiao, 2011)

As some studies show, e-learning is an important tool for learners. Online social networking sites engage students and need to be studied as distributors of information. The medium of internet has evolved with growth in its applications. The interactive nature of online environments has expanded with social networks. Connecting through social networks started as a niche activity, but with time it is now a phenomenon. (Mehmood and Taswir, 2013)
In addition, most students are relatively using digital media to communicate creatively about the issues that are either important or insignificant to them. It’s about the interactions between people- individuals and groups – and the great potential to share more, learn more and accomplish more. Unlike traditional forms of media, which have limited pages or time on the airwaves, social media is infinite in its potential. (Jue, et. Al, 2010) Communicating with friends and other users can be done through private or public messages. The conversation is multi-media, with the use of words, drawings, pictures, or videos. It can either be instantaneous (with chat applications and presence indicators) or asynchronous (with wall posts, messages) exchange. The conversation takes place between real persons and without outside intervention. (Cadiao, 2011)
Social media is one of the trendiest ways teachers are enhancing lessons and engaging students both in and out of the classroom.
