1. What is diversity? Why is diversity valued?
“ The term “diversity” is used broadly to refer to many demographic variables, including, but not limited to, race, religion, color, gender, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, age, education, geographic origin, and skill characteristics. America's diversity has given this country its unique strength, resilience and richness.” ( U.S. Department of Interior). It is what this country is all about, being free to be whatever we want to be.
2. What is ethnocentrism? In what ways can ethnocentrism be detrimental to a society?

The definition for immigration is for a group of people moving from their national origin to settle somewhere else. As to some emigration may mean to permanently move from their national origin.
4. What are some of the ways groups of people are identified?
There are a number of different ways groups of people are used to be identified, but the main thing that people identify with is the color of skin. Which in itself can cause a lot of trouble, if you look back to 911. People associated what they knew to be terrorist to everyone with that skin color. Other ways are clothing, speech, hair, beliefs, values, culture,food, geographic location, who they know, by their last name,nationality
5. Why do people label and group other people?
I personal think people label and group other people, is because are each uneducated about others, narrow minded, how we were raised or insecure about themselves. These are what I think are the main cause for labeling and grouping. Young mothers are always labeled poorly, that they never take car of their children and immature about their responsibilities Which gives a bad name of every other young mother other. I was one of them and it was never fun to be labeled as something I never was.
6. Define culture. Is culture limited to racial and ethnic backgrounds? Explain.
Culture is the traits of a certain group of people and is what we make of it. Culture is a vast number of different things, and is not limited to racial and ethnic backgrounds. It can be anything from social habits, religion, music and art, food, attitudes and beliefs. Culture is something that is ever changing and will be different in a few years. It influences us all the time, some are some common we incorporate into our own without even thinking about. A person's customs are another area that is included with culture and that sometimes people adopt as their own. Like at weddings or holidays.
