Our school has recently been using the 6th Form ICT lessons as a tool for the use of different communication technologies and advancements in ICT. Students have learned how to create Blogs, Vlog, use of social networks and the effective use of emails. Base on this you have be asked by the Head of ICT to create a user guide or a “how to do” document on one of communication technologies listed in the previous sentence. The user guide is to the specified audiences including students, peers and staff. To ensure your work is appropriate for the specified audiences, you will need to carry out, with the aid of your peers, detailed reviews and evaluations of your interpersonal and written communication techniques. |
Task 1 – P6 & P5 Communicate technical information to a specified audience & P5 – use IT to aid communications:
All students need to be given instructions on how to use or create (depending on which communication technology you use) the technology in your document.
For example if you are create a user guide for an email system you should ensure you use screen shots to show all of the steps involved, using a word processor. The following points maybe considered when creating your user guide:
* access email
* add a contact
* attach a file to an email
* make a message ‘urgent’
Remember your target audience may not be very experienced in ICT. You will have to take this into account and adapt your language.
Task 2 - M2 – Review draft documents to produce final versions:
You will need to review the user guide or “how to do” document that you have created to see that it meets the needs of the audience. To do this you should use the success criteria below to carry out a self-assessment of this document.
For further evidence that you have reviewed your work you should also write any corrections or changes on a printed draft...
