A “Front Chair Fiesta” consists of many different people to bringing a variety of styles of cooking together for one big function, very similar to a potluck. This particular event is mainly for college students in different sororities and an assortment of college groups, but anyone can attend it.
On this particular day I was invited to this event, in which I initially thought was a cook off until I found out the actual name. I saw many different types of foods being cooked. What I found to be interesting is how food can bring people together who usually don’t associate themselves with each other.
I met so many different races and orginazations. The one thing everyone had in common was the desire to bar-b-que. When I think ...view middle of the document...
The meat was just that great. Back at the booth/stand where my friend has his stand set up. He had regular bar-b-que. You know the usual. Chicken, chopped beef, ribs, sausage (to die for). What made my friends booth so unique was had a family recipe for bar-b-que sauce. This sauce tasted like so Hickory Sweat and Sour with a dash of his own spices. So you couldn’t distinguish weather this was southern made or northern made. I believe southern has a lot of spices inside with soul from the heart. And northern is just originally plain with sweets to add to the food.
The people at this event that was the makers from each booth thought I was a food inspector. I told them that I wasn’t, I just like to ask questions about the food I’m eating. I didn’t see anything wrong with ask question. Just as long as I didn’t offend anyone. What I came into conclusion about with most of the cooks was that. Cooking comes from the heart. It’s like a rethym. All you have to do is have desire and you will come out with great meal. I told a guy name Joey Smith, “Well I can’t really cook all that good but I sure can bake a mean cake the size of the house. So you’re telling me if I want to make a great meal I can turn on a good tune on the radio, and my meal will come out alright?” He replied, “I’m afraid it going to take just a little bit more than that.”
In conclusion I have learned that trying new things isn’t that bad after all. The next time you hear about a Front Fair Fiesta you should definitely attend. After reading this you should want to get that feeling I had with my sense of smell. I didn’t want to eat nothing else for a week straight. As a matter of fact, traveling the world trying out new foods doesn’t sound too bad right about now.
