Demonstrative Communication

There are many important aspects in life that one must consider. One important aspect is communication. Communication skills are required every day in life. Communication can be defined as a process which consists of sending and receiving messages (Cooper & Schindler, 2011). This process is important because it is used every day. This process can be done in several ways. Communication can be sent and received verbally and non-verbally. They usually are lacking definite shape, form, character, and meaning. This usually occurs when the sender does not express themselves clearly. This makes the message unclear and lack meaning. Demonstrative communication can be either positive or negative.
Demonstration communication can be positive. Certain words and facial expressions contribute to the message. When a receiver is attentive providing eye contact and active listening skills it indicates that the message has been received in a positive way. Active listening is a crucial part in positive communication because when individuals listen attentively to the speaker who is positive and engaging, then the communication is perfect between the sender and the receiver. Demonstrative communication can also be negative when the sender uses certain words and punctuation. The sender can send a mixed message by using all caps. They can also send mixed messages by using exclamation marks. This can signal yelling or excitement, which can lead to confrontation. It can also be negative if the sender uses certain body language and facial expressions. This can include eye rolling, finger pointing, lack of eye contact, hostility, and showing no interest in the conversation. People usually show lack of interest by not being attentive while receiving the message. Demonstrative communication involves listening and responding.
