Decision-Making Process Paper
I have recently made a decision to move to a different state. I will discuss the steps in my decision making process. The decision making process will be compared to the process obtained in class text. By using the steps in the text my outcome could have a different conclusion.
I was having trouble find employment while as residing in New Mexico after a huge layoff from work. After months of searching for full time employment, I starting contemplating a decision to move my family to Spring Illinois. The choice to move was a huge decision to make. My wife would have to leave her state job along with my kids having to start a new school. So I made a list of pros and cons of making the move. I then began ...view middle of the document...
I did this by deciding to move to Springfield Illinois. The third step was to evaluate the alternative, I did this by writing out the pros and cons of my decision I then followed the fourth step in making my choice, by deciding to move. The fifth steps includes implementation (Bateman, Snell, 2011). I then implemented the decision by moving. The last step is to evaluate the decision made. I have yet done this step. As I review the text and look at my decision making process I have determined my steps similar but not identical.
If I followed the steps in the decision making process identically my outcome might been different. There are two steps that could be changed which is identifying alternatives and evaluating decision. If I was to give more alternatives my final decision might not to move out of state. I only had one alternative and decided that was the best solution. The alternatives not listed could offer me a decision without moving, such as change career fields. The other step that can be different is to evaluate the decision I have not done this step at all. I feel that if I was to complete this step I would have better confidence in future drastic plans because I know I was confident in making one right choice before.
In summary I made a decision to move out of state. I explained my decision making process. My decision making process was similar to the text but not identical. The steps that were different where identifying alternatives and evaluating decision. Outcome would be different if I had followed the decision making process listed in the text.
