The death penalty and life without parole for a juvenile is one of the most controversial questions in the juvenile justice system today. Should a 13 year old sit and rot in prison for life, with days full of emptiness without a chance to change? The actual definition of capital punishment is the lawful inflictions of death as a punishment. Does life without parole for juveniles constitute to be cruel and unusual to be unconstitutional? Execution is not the right decision for a crime committed by a juvenile or life without parole because most juvenile do not fully mature until their late teens, they have time to change and placing them in prison for life would be a waste rather than a solution.

I find that life without parole is cruel for a juvenile of such young age because they can change. Most time Juveniles may participate in certain remote acts for survival or parenting can play an incredible role in how juveniles make poor decisions, or simply peer pressure can affect their acts The juveniles don’t know the real consequences or why did they do it. It’s a waste to leave these juveniles to die. Soon it will not be seventy nine but hundreds as crime increases between juveniles and bullying.
If I had the power to control this issue I would pass a law stating that under certain and specific circumstances can a juvenile be sentenced to life without parole. The certain circumstance would include if they murdered more than three people on their first offense. The second circumstance would be if they have committed for than one offence of murder. Last but not least, in the situation that he killed the president or killed many in a mass murder. I would impose for the first time juvenile offender who kills someone to give them a couple years like 15-20 so that they know there are consequences, parole to keep them on track, and some aftercare services. Another way if I had the power to control the issue would be sending them to a specialized boot camp instead of incarcerating them. In this boot camp they will get their education, learn lifelong lessons and have many people who are in the death row , or life without parole speak to them of how horrible it is to know that the government is going to execute them , Or that you will die in prison. They will tell them of what they missed out on and who they could be right now if they were not incarcerated or on death row.
