Current Business Research Project Paper
In this paper I will give a synopsis of the article Advanced Practice Nurses Facilitating Clinical Translational Research by Lauren C. Shramp, BSN, RN, Maryann Holtcamp, MS, APN, Shane A. Phillips, PhD, PT, Timothy P. Johnson, PhD, and Julie Hoff, PhD, RN. I will define the business research and its purpose, explain the business problems under investigation, describe the data collection methods used in the research project, and tell what the researchers concluded as a result of their research.

Physician colleagues find it difficult to balance their already heavy workload with their research responsibilities. Usually the research subjects suffer from extended wait times. The research subjects have to wait for the physician to arrive at the CRC, where he or she must complete the required study procedures. Long waiting periods decrease efficiency and service satisfaction for the research subjects and the CRC research facilitation team (Schramp et al., 2010).
Data Collection Methods
The length of time for standardized study visits for research subjects with vascular health issues was compared to the before and after exercise in healthy subjects. Research subjects were asked to make two study visits, two weeks apart. These visits included cardiovascular screening, a short exercise session, and phlebotomy among other things (Schramp et al., 2010). The time elapsed between a subject’s arrival and departure defines the total visit length. Investigators set out to determine if a CRC-based APN could perform minor surgical procedures rather than the physician colleague. This would alter the total visit length by cutting out the time spent on waiting for the physician colleague to arrive.
The first visit investigated the vascular health before and after exercise in the healthy subjects. The first study visit included obtaining the medical history, blood and urine specimens, a Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) scan, and a subcutaneous fat biopsy (Schramp et al., 2010).. The second study visit included blood and urine specimens, a brachial artery ultrasound, an exercise session, and a...
