Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept where organizations, mainly companies, have a responsibility to make an effort to improve the quality of their workforce and to make a positive impact to the surrounding society and the environment. Companies should not only base their decisions solely on financial factors, but on social and environmental values.

Some benefits of having CSR include improving corporate image to the consumers. He is considered to be a stakeholder because he is an employee for the company. A stakeholder doesn’t have to be an investor or a customer, but it can also be an employee.

According to the Association for Accountants and Financial Professionals in Business, members of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) are expected to behave ethically and to follow the standards of conduct that have been set. The issue of competence has been compromised in this situation. According to the IMA Statement of Ethical Professional Practice, all members have a responsibility to, “maintain an appropriate level of professional expertise,” and “perform professional duties in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and technical standards” (The Association for Accountants and Financial Professionals in Business, n.d.). Marcus and Ray have a duty to act professionally and have to comply with the regulated laws. When Ray asked Marcus to change the figures, he was not acting professionally and was acting in his self-interest. Not only was it unethical, but it was breaking the regulations of the company.
Another issue that has been compromised is integrity. According to the IMA Statement of Ethical Professional Practice, all members have a responsibility to, “mitigate actual conflicts of interest” (The Association for Accountants and Financial Professionals in Business, n.d.).
