Critical Thinking and Society
Critical and creative thinking is important in order to be successful in the work place. You can have two people looking at one situation and both will have opposite opinions about it neither of which have any real truth or knowledge to back up their view. Having an opinion is great but knowing the truth and having the knowledge needed is highly important. When forming a thought it is important to look at the facts behind it, ask yourself if you have the proper knowledge needed in order to form this though and if there is any truth behind it.
Hindrances of Critical Thinking
Three things that can hinder the critical thinking process are face saving, resistance to change, and self-deception. Face saving is basically what happens after a situation has occurred. If the situation is going to take a negative effect on a person they will do what they can to make it look as if it was not their fault. Resistance to change is exactly how it sounds. People tend to grow up thinking a certain way and they refuse to change their minds and be open to other ideas. Self-deception Is what you do when you first agree to the terms of something but when the outcome does not happen in your favor you go against the original terms and decide you are not going to abide by them. People can easily overcome all of these hindrances by simply having an open mind. If people choose to believe that there are other possibilities out there and are willing to look at other options then these hindrances should not be much of a problem.
