The Miscommunication between the US and India
There is a very big miscommunication issue between the US and India. Both sides have piled up plenty of issues against each other. One great thing is the one person who takes out of his busy schedule to mediate between the two countries. This person is Romesh T. Wadhwani, one of the richest Indian American globally and who plays an active role in the communication between the US and India. They do not recognize that they can have a common economic frame work without agreeing on everything. What seems to be missing is the ability to communicate through they disagree on a few issues, and agree on others.
In consistency on economic policy, failure to execute reasonable terms and conditions around the civil nuclear deals etc. There is a feeling in the US that the right hand in India does not talk to the left hand. Manmoah Singh tried really hard to get the civil nuclear deal done: he took a huge political risk and succeeded. In the US, George W. Bush tried very hard to get it done but nothing happened because the liability limits were set too high. That creates a huge set of frustrations.
The third example is defense, on the one hand, the US is pleased that $8- 9 billion worth of contracts will be given to US defense companies but 10- 15 times that number have been given to France or Russia. The feeling is that we (the US) should get a higher percentage of that business if it is partner of India.
Neither of these cultures are the same. While the culture of America is a mixture of different cultures, the Indian culture is unique and has its own values. One major difference that can be seen is the way that the Indian culture value family. Indian culture is very family oriented compared to the American culture. In another sense, it is said that the American culture is more goal oriented. Another difference that can be seen between the Indian culture and American culture is that the american culture like mobility where as the Indian culture like stability.
When discussing competition, Indian culture is more competitive than the American culture. In the american culture we work because it is human nature an the Indian culture they work to meet the needs of their families. American culture we have great regards for time and its value as for the Indian culture they do not value time they are on the contrary...
