Child abuses are brutal attacks which harm children through physical, sexual, and emotional problems. “Child abuse does not develop in a vacuum, but arises in families in which parents turn to increasingly coercive means of controlling their children’s behavior. Child abuse comes from a complex combination of personal, social, and cultural factors. Many factors contribute to child abuse stress, a history of child abuse in at least one of the parents families of origin, parents with poor anger management skills, alcohol or substance abuse acceptance of violence as a way of coping with stress, failure to become attached to the children, and rigid attitudes toward ...view middle of the document...
Different cultures have different rules and standards about what the law enforces about child abuse. Child abuse is to hurt or injure people for no particular reason. Child abuse can occur because of frustration, low self-esteem, and lack of patience with innocent children. Abused children may feel guilty, distrust, and blame themselves for what their abusers done to them. Once the abusers abused people, it makes them feel like they are nothing and have nothing to live for. “Abused and neglected children are 48 times more likely to be arrested as juveniles, 2 times more likely to be arrested as an adult and 3.1 times more likely to be arrested for a violent crime than matched controls (Hess 222).” Child abuse can have effects on peoples’ lives. Child abuse can occur in many different ways such as: sexual, emotional, and physical abuse.
“Sexual abuse is a form of child abuse in which children are subjects to fondling, exhibitionism, oral sex, or intercourse. An estimated 500,000 children in the United States are abused each year (Villarose.2002). Although we cannot identify any one
single syndrome that results from child sexual abuse, investigators find that sexually abused children are more likely to develop a wide range of physical and psychological
health problems than are un- abused children (Nevid 477).” Sexual abuse may occur due to adult asking children to expose their body parts to them.
Sexual abuse can change children’s behavior and if they do not tell someone about it they will act different around the abuser. Sexual abuse usually occurs without the consent of the abused child. Abusers threaten the children’s lives which makes the children afraid to tell someone about what happened to them. However, when children have been sexually abused you can recognize signs and changes such as: torn or bloody clothing, walk differently, pregnancy, aggressive towards people, and excessive bathing. Most people believe the best way to relieve stress in a sexually abused case is to go visit a psychiatrist.
Sexual abuse may also have an effect on children relationships and psychological health in adulthood. The child may avoid their sexually abuse problem by not thinking about it and trying to move on with their life. However, when an abused person decides to have children of their own, they will be cautious about where they are and who they are with. It will also be hard for them to trust people to take their kids somewhere without them being around to watch them. If a child can’t cope with what have happened to them, most of them commit suicide.
“Emotional abuse, which is 8% of all substantiated cases of child abuse, is commonly defined as the systematic tearing down of another human being (National 2).” There are four different types of emotional abuse such as rejecting, ignoring, terrorizing, isolating, and corrupting. Emotional abuse can bring down the child self esteem also. It makes a child...
