Background of the Study
With limited sources of electricity in the Philippines, we discerned that this problem needs attention or better yet solved. At present,
Mindanao today has been experiencing power shortage because of lack of hydroelectric energy for the power depends on the availability of Maria Cristina Falls’ water, which is also affected by weather conditions. In view of this, people from the place tend to find an alternative source of energy. We have found out that the fruit, santol (Sandoricum koetjape), contains citric acid that could produce electrical energy. At present, the Cottonfruit (Sandoricum koetjape) is an abundant fruit locally.

Future Researchers. The outcome and recommendations of the study will help them gather information and awareness about the problem being studied and if they would like to make further study, it will be of use to as a vital springboard for their venture.
Scope and Limitation
The study deals primarily with the electrical activity of the Cottonfruit (Sandoricum koetjape) It only aimed to create electrical energy out of Cottonfruit (Sandoricum koetjape).
H0: There will be no significant effect in the conduction of electricity produced by a certain volume of Cottonfruit (Sandoricum koetjape) to light at least a 5-Watt bulb.
H1: There will be a significant effect in the conduction of electricity produced by a certain volume Cottonfruit (Sandoricum koetjape) to light at least a 5-Watt bulb.
Definition of Terms
Cottonfruit. A sour fruit specifically when unripe. Its tree could produce up to 18,000 - 24,000 fruits per year.
Electricity. One of the many forms of electricity, which is often produced by the presence of charged particles (protons and electrons) and is one of the essential components to power many electrical devices and machines.
Conductivity. The ability a certain object to transfer electric current.
Electrode. A conductor, which serves as the entrance and exit of electricity in an object, substance, or region.
Electric current. Circulation of electricity.
Voltage. An electromotive force that is measured in volts.
Watt. The unit for measuring electrical power that is equivalent to one joule per second.
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Scientifically known as Sandoricum koetjape and commonly known as “santol”, the Cottonfruit is devoured in many ways such as: raw and plain or with spices added, cooked and candied or made into marmalade, cooked in coconut milk (with bits of pork and hot pepper) and served as a dish in Bicol, Philippines.
Its big lime to deep green leaves proposing occasional contrasting red leaves makes it a good shade tree.
