Ayon kay Pogue (2000) ang study habits mula pa noong nakaraang 30 taon hanggang ngayon ay isang salik kung bakit bumabagsak ang mga estudyante dahil hindi nila alam kung paano makakapag aral ng magaling. At karaniwan na sa mga mag aaral sa kolehiyo na bumagsak o hindi makapag pasa ay sa kadahilanan na wala silang alam sa epektibong study habits na nararapat sa pag aaral.
