Censorship Benefits Society
Nowadays access to pornography is much easier than many years ago, and that makes pornography more harmful to society. But there are many questions and concerns about this issue that makes it even more controversial than many people think. Also, there are different views on this issue, but in my opinion censorship of pornography is very important to our society and to our children. Therefore some censorship and restrictions are necessary in pornography, and because of that the first amendment should have some limits on free speech in order to keep the society healthy, stop degrading women, and protect the future generations from overexposure to the pornography ...view middle of the document...

It tries to protect many people especially teenagers that are in danger of being accidentally exposed to some material that they are not interested in. Today the media today is the easiest way to see pornography and in the article by Betty Wein called “Obscenity Laws Do Not Threaten Free Speech” she mentions: “Just yesterday, it seems, a person had to go out of his way to find hard-core pornography. Today, an increasing number of Americans have to go out of their way to avoid it.” In this quote by Betty Wein she wants to express her feelings about the present situation that finding a porno movie or anything related to hard-core pornography became easier and because of that she supports the censorship. But the controversial argument is by censoring pornography in the movies the first amendment is not considered and that make many people angry. As we all know the first amendment in the constitution is the freedom of speech and freedom of press, which simply says that there shouldn’t be censoring and regulation in the media or even in the press. But to think that hard-core pornography is currently illegal under obscenity laws, that are the reason that is not protected by the first amendment, therefore some limits are imposed on free speech to protect children and stop demeaning women in a brutal and violent ways.
Pornography has very different levels but in today’s society women and men has become alluring objects that are just used to make movies or take shoots for magazines, which degrade and demean women and men and their bodies. Also, on the other hand the idea of the society changes, and everybody, not specifically men or women look at partner as a body that should have sex with, and nothing more than having a good sex. But in this case women are more fragile than men, because even many women think that they are here to serve their men and do whatever they want. The worst part of this idea is when men are demanding the same actions that they see in movies and in the internet, and that is when the relationships start to fall apart. Because of the media and how society present women, many women think that they should do what their men wants and what they see in the movies . This is when many women make the big mistake, and cause the society to think that having a hard sex or dirty stuff, which more looks like a rape, is what every woman should do. Also as it is mentioned in Susan Brownmiller’s article “Lets Put Pornography Back in the Closet” she says that the reason the feminist group doesn’t approve the pornography is because pornography hurt, offend, and mortify women’s body, and uses women’s body as an object to become pleased.
We all know that many kids and teenagers have access to internet and obviously access to TV. The censorship that now is censoring many scenes from different movies helps our kids not to go in wrong direction. If the censoring was not available, the...
