The primary problems identified in this report are: planning, reward system and leadership. Firstly, when the planning for change lacks foresight, the workforce is insufficiently equipped to adapt to the new requirements, creating off-setting effects. Secondly, the poorly designed reward system fails to recognise the contribution of employees, resulting in lower motivation to perform up to expectations. Thirdly, the inadequate leadership style fails to motivate employees effectively. The discussion on leadership is emphasised due to its relevance to workplace disengagement, which is one of the main consequences that has resulted.
Promoting transformational leadership is likely to be a fundamental recommendation InsureCo should consider. A culture of transformational leadership can potentially foresee the areas of weakness in the workforce, bringing about a better planning for change. Also, transformational leadership instils in its leaders a better awareness of employees’ intrinsic needs. Hence, the reward system can be promptly redesigned to recognise employee’s contribution by providing more opportunities for growth. As seen in Steve’s example, transactional leadership has many flaws. Evidently, more effort should be invested in cultivating a culture of transformational leadership in InsureCo. This investment will bring about long-term benefits to facilitate the company’s restructuring efforts to align itself with the global market.

2.0 Introduction
2.1 Report Topic
This report has analysed the case study of InsureCo. This company lacks appropriate planning for change, adequate reward systems and effective leadership functions. The discussion on leadership is emphasised due to its relevance to workplace disengagement, which is one of the main consequences that has resulted. Other secondary problems such as the lack of teamwork, skills training and conflict management are also discussed.
2.2 Limitations
This report is based solely on a case study that focuses only on one department within an entire organisation. This limits the report’s assessment of the company. The organisational culture is not discussed within this case study, which can be a limitation as organisational culture is a persistent factor that can perpetually shape certain behaviours. Moreover, it is unclear of how prevalent these circumstances are to the organisation. Hence, this report is unable to specify the magnitude of the recommendations for this company.
2.3 Sources of Data
The researches that were used to support the analysis were extracted from mainly journal articles, books and reports taken from websites and newspaper articles.
2.4 Organisation of Report
This report primarily identified the existing problems in InsureCo; subsequently, it explored a list of recommendations to better the prospect of the company. Firstly, this report analysed the importance of foresight in the planning for change. Secondly, it analysed the benefits...
