In teams Carlos always favors the collaboration of people from different backgrounds since the results are better and more creative. While working with both companies he took innovative approaches like keeping the culture of each company. He developed a curiosity and emotional stability. His international background and changing environments must have made him risk prone. The decision he took in environments like Japan were risky since you could not foresee the outcome of such big changes in leadership and management style. His emotional stability came hand in hand with his openness to experience. Even though the outlook in North America were bad and sales were affected by the earthquake in Japan, he did not step down or retreated, he just gave up parts of his responsibility and adapted to changes again. However, kickbacks like he experienced at Nissan with losses of $20 Billion did not discourage him to go on and take other risks.

Carlos Ghosn has a high degree of conscientiousness. He is careful and scrupulous. He did not give out any hint about what is happening next with the companies he is in charge of. Press statements were always very conservative. Moreover, people say that is he relentless in following-up on tasks. He is very demanding and therefore scrupulous. It is said that “his style is brisk and direct, but not without warmth. This can be seen as agreeableness but also as a factor of conscientiousness. All his conscientiousness expresses in the comprehensiveness he has for complex problems. He is able to break problems down and focus on the most important facts. His comment to avoid burning cash can be classified as an easy understandable goal to anyone. Furthermore, he stated that: no matter how complex the industry customers are in control and you have to design appealing cars for them. His comprehensiveness can also be derived from his way of coping with the supply chain. In the end it was risky but rewarding to stock electronic components to take off even faster after the earthquake hit Japan. Carlos Ghosn’s extraversion and agreeableness are the most stressed personal attributes in the lecture provided. Constantly he is praised as the man who puts plans into practice. This is a clear result of positive emotional stages as well as that he feels good about himself. Anyway, the every now and then compliments also foster the development of an even higher self-esteem and selfconfidence. Being “larger than life” requires feeling good about oneself. Huge decisions like shedding thousands of jobs or closing factories require not only a certain extraversion but also every other skill of the Big Five. Mr. Ghosn is a “fearless cost killer”, “hardnosed”, “arrogant” and “confident”, an obvious appreciation of his strong personality and openness to experience. The texts point out many times that Mr. Ghosn has a large agreeableness. His international background and love for cars made it possible to be accepted as a “leader” in Japan....
