Cruz University of Phoenix Performance appraisals can be an important tool for both management as well as the employee, although I find that performance appraisals can be subjective. This is not to say that appraisals are not of importance if you are going to reward employees on their merit or performance. However, this can be a slippery slope when linking an employee’s pay with a performance appraisal. However, doing this can cause conflict between improving performance and deciding on increases. These questions will touch on areas such as accomplishments, goals, education and improvement. Managers will next look over the self appraisal and critique his or her answers. The self evaluation will go to the next person in the chain of command to critique. Once the evaluation is done the employee will be called in to discuss the outcome. Managers will discuss careers and goals to help the sales staff reach the highest level of performance. Goals that have been set by the company and management will be reviewed and employees will be compensated for reaching and exceeding goals. The manager will ask for the employee’s input on the goals set and if they were achieved. As professional sales people we will offer suggestions or mentors for improvement and will offer perks such as a weekend getaway to top sales performers. Other ways sales employees can improve is to stay on a continuous improvement program by attending training offer by the company as well as tailored training for sales. All of the sales employees could be subject to a mentoring program. Opportunities in education to increase skills and promotions within the company are readily available. Knowledge is a powerful tool that can only increase chances of success. Employees will have mandatory training with the regulations from the EPA.
