d.).
A structured questionnaire or a position analysis questionnaire (PAQ) is one method available to study jobs. The questionnaire provides information that accurately describes the job duties. The document must be completed according to what the employee is doing today. The questionnaires list job tasks and behaviors. Tasks focus on what gets done and behaviors focus on how a job is done. According to (Cascio,2006) the workers rate each task or behavior in terms of whether or not the task is performed, and, if the task is, they rate characteristics such as frequency, importance, level of difficulty, and relationship to overall performance. The ratings provide a basis for scoring the questionnaires and for developing a profile of actual job requirements. The PAQ consist of information input, mental processes, and work output, relationships with other persons, job context, licensing, hours and responsibility.
Structured questionnaires are one of the most popular methods of job analysis. This method is in expensive and the quickest to administer. Questionnaires can be completed as time is allowed therefore, avoiding loss of productive time (Cascio, 2006). Web-based questionnaires allow the human resource analyst to review and compare this position with a large number of similar positions. Some of the disadvantages are that incumbents tend to provide higher ratings of abilities required in a job than do supervisors or trained job analysts. Questionnaires can be time consuming and expensive to develop. The questionnaires can be confusing and difficult to clarify any misunderstandings.
