I. Istoricul bicicletei

O bicicletă poate fi definită în general ca fiind un vehicul rutier cu două roți așezate în linie una în spatele celeilalte, pus în mișcare prin intermediul a două pedale acționate cu picioarele. Se estimează că mersul pe bicicletă este de trei ori mai eficient din punct de vedere energetic decât mersul pe jos, iar viteza este de trei - patru ori mai mare.
Fiind inventate în Europa secolului 19, bicicletele sunt acum în număr de peste un miliard, asigurând în multe regiuni mijlocul principal de transport. Marii investitori au venit din China in România datorită apropierii României de Europa Centrală şi de Vest. Existenţa unei mari pieţe de desfacere, precum şi siguranţa investiţiei lor i-au convins să pună bazele celei mai mari fabrici de biciclete din România. În prezent, DHS a investit în România mai mult de 20.000.000 Euro.

In urma unei colaborari de 2 ani grupul german PROPHETE GMBH avand incredere intr-un parteneriat de viitor a decis sa cumpere 40 % din actiuni contribuind cu capital si in acelasi timp cu experienta dobandita timp de 100 de ani in Germania.
Compania Eurosport DHS S.A. este cea care produce articolele sportive ale marcii DHS®. Aceasta marca a reusit sa se stabileasca pe piata atat prin calitate, strategie de pret cat si prin bine dezvoltatul sau sistem de service post-vanzare. Suntem localizati langa orasul Deva, partea vest-centrala a tarii si suntem cei mai mari producatori de biciclete din Romania.
Gama larga de produse si servicii, impreuna cu profesionalismul si seriozitatea dovedite de mult timp au pus firma Eurosport DHS S.A. intre primele companii din tara. Pentru a dovedi acest lucru, avem numeroase diplome si premii acordate companiei. Consiliul National al Intreprinderilor Private Mici si Mijlocii a clasificat Eurosport DHS S.A. pentru al treilea an consecutiv pe primul loc la categoria "Productie de biciclete".
Prin investitia masiva de aproximativ 300.000 EURO intr-o linie tehnologica automata pentru ansamblarea si centrarea rotilor de biciclete, si prin achizitionarea unor linii automate de ansamblare din Olanda ce garanteaza calitatea produselor ca fiind la standarde europene, productia companiei a crescut la 500.000 unitati pe an.
La inceputul lunii Martie 2006, Eurosport DHS a fost acreditata in Deva, ca rezultat al investitiei de 6 milioane de EURO, ca o noua fabrica de biciclete ce poate produce un total de 1 milion de unitati pe an.Aceasta capacitate de productie este data de catre cele 4 linii de ansamblare disponibile si suprafata de productie si stocare de 17.000 m².
Aceasta investitie a fost facuta luand in consideratie oportunitatea pentru productia de biciclete din Romania. Bicicletele produse aici vor fi vandute pe toata piata europeana incepand din Ianuarie 2007 cand Romania a devenit membra a Uniunii Europene. Produsele Eurosport prezinta cateva caracteristici foarte importante: calitate buna si preturi mici datorita si costurilor scazute ale fortei de munca locale.
In Iunie 2006, Prophete Gmbh a intrat in parteneriat cu Eurosport DHS SA aducand in acest parteneriat atat capital cat si 100 de ani de experienta in productia de biciclete la standarde germane.
In Iulie 2006, compania a investit 250.000 EURO in 6 echipamente de ajustare ale rotilor achizitionate de la producatorul francez Mach1; o companie specializata in productia de echipamente pentru construirea rotilor de biciclete.
