In this essay, I argue with not to abolish the capital punishment. I endorse that I totally agree with Ernest Van Den Haag in his article “The Ultimate Punishments†and his responded to capital punishment opponents. In this paper I explain the view of Haag in his five arguments that capital punishment ideal is bringing justice to the society, as well I explained why I do support Haag in the use of capital punishment. Also I mention the religion point of view and what Islam says about death penalty finally I will conclude my essay emphasis my opinion.

The existence of some systemic problems is no reason to abolish the whole death penalty system.
I totally agree with Haag in his second argument miscarriages of justice. I agree that in a very rare case an innocent people have been executed in the past and it likely to happen again also I believe that a lot of innocent people are imprisoning which I think it is wrong as executing them but is that reason to empty the prisons.
As well I agree with him when he said that all human activities sometimes cost the lives of innocent, but we still do these activities. (Whit, 2012)
For example more innocent people killed by cars and plans crashes than by mistaken executions of innocent people, but we never argue that to stop producing and using cars and planes. Actually, companies are competing to increase their production and improve the features and speed.
Deterrence argument is a strong argument that Haag response to opponents who think that there is no evidence that capital punishment is deterrent to further murder. Haag thinks that even if there were no deterrent value he would argue in for capital punishment from a retribution view. He thinks that capital punishment is worthwhile even if it just deters a few potential murderers than saving the lives of murders because their execution might not deter others. (Whit, 2012)
In my opinion capital punishment is likely to deter more than other punishments because people fear death more than anything else. I believe that it is justified as a means of retribution they should die because they deserve to die, also it considers a deterrent to others it, prevents any danger of re-offending as well prevents future murders.
I think society should use the strongest punishment available to deter murder, and that is the death penalty. If murderers are sentenced to death and executed, potential murderers will think twice before killing for fear of losing their own life as most people have a natural fear of death which will make them to think before act. If they don’t think about it consciously, they will think about it unconsciously.
The death penalty is important because it could save the lives of thousands of potential victims.
Capital punishment permanently removes the worst criminals from society and it is much safer for the rest of us than long term or permanent imprisonment so the criminals cannot commit any further crimes, either within prison or in case if they escape or after being released from the prison. For example what is happening in Arab countries after the revolution many criminals escaped from prison and they became a danger to society. A lot of innocent people have been killed by those criminal also in addition to that, criminal who are in permanent imprisonment I think nothings will deter them from committing another crime within the prison; by committing another crime like killing another prisoner their wouldn’t be any difference in the outcome of the sentence.
